My name is Manu Caddie and I am standing for Gisborne District Council. This website includes my views on various issues and why some people think I might be a good person to have sitting around the Council table.
The site has space for you to provide feedback on my ideas and challenge my thinking, assumptions and statements if you think they are misguided or not true.
I believe in participatory democracy and would work hard to make Council more open, inclusive and responsive to the views of all local residents – including children and young people. I am willing to give the time and energy to the role of Councillor if I am elected.
I am married to Tarsh Koia and we have two children, Miria is five and attends Te Kura Reo Rua o Waikirikiri and Maioha who is eighteen months old and he is enrolled at Te Toka o Te Kokonga Te Kohanga Reo in Dalton Street. My whanau support the decision to stand for Council, and they are very gracious as I am involved in a lot of community groups already.
